Never does he fail to strike a note

Even and superbly burnished
Ebony and pearl keys perch in a line
Some keys are as black as coal
Others as white as vanilla ice cream
As the composer roosts on the bench he can’t help but to strike a note
He meekly places his fingers and presses mercifully
He plays a slow mellow melody
Never does he fail to strike a perfect note
